Project1VOICE’s signature initiative is One Voice One Play One Day.
Each year, on the third Monday in June, Project1VOICE presents an international event:
- theaters and diverse institutions across the country and around the world — One VOICE,
- staged readings of a classic play or musical by an African-American writer or composer — One PLAY,
- simultaneously — One DAY.
On June 20, 2011, the inaugural program took place in fifteen cities across the United States. Today it includes 45 theaters in 3 countries, over 200 coordinated events, and an exponentially increased audience, both in person and via live streaming.
