The Project1VOICE Book Club 2.0 (P1VBC) is a book club founded April 1, 2014 by Project1VOICE, INC in a joint partnership with HUE-MAN Online Bookstore. The Book Club is a part of Project1VOICE’s latest focus–literacy. And as the “2.0” name suggests, digital media is a huge focus. It incorporates the use of various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and e-readers that allow for the quoting and uploading of passages and notes for discussion, among other features. This year the P1VBC is George C. Wolfe’s THE COLORED MUSEUM.
The first book club offering was Ntozake Shange’s FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF. National book club discussions of this book club selection are planned beginning Monday June 16th, 2014 and continuing through out the month of June. This is one of the components of the Project1VOICE FOR COLORED GIRLS Initiative. This Initiative is designed to empower and inspire women and girls to live their best lives using the arts as the catalyst. A huge focus of the FOR COLORED GIRLS Initiative will be encouraging good mental and physical health care practices among women and girls. This may include information and health care screenings that address the needs, concerns and disparities specific to women and girls. This is subject to participation and availability.
