Tuskegee Repertory Theatre, Inc., (TRT) a 501©(3) non-profit, tax exempt organization,  was founded in 1991 by Dyann Robinson.  Ms. Robinson holds a BA Degree in Dance from Butler University, and a MFA Degree in Drama from the Catholic University of America.  She launched her 50 year career in Theatre with 20 years as a professional dancer and choreographer performing in dance companies in the United States, in Brussels Belgium as a member of Maurice Bejart’s Ballet of the Twentieth Century, and on Broadway as a member of the original cast of the musical “Bubbling Brown Sugar. She returned home to Tuskegee in 1980 , where she became Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs for the City of Tuskegee, and created the Tuskegee City Dance Theatre.  When the City was no longer able to support the Department of Cultural Affairs, Ms. Robinson began her 15 year tenure as an Associate Professor of dance and theatre in the Department of Theatre at Auburn University.  In 1991, while still at Auburn Ms. Robinson founded Tuskegee Repertory Theatre, Inc. and in 1997 purchased the former Post Office building in downtown Tuskegee, naming it the Jessie Clinton Arts Centre in memory of her parents and making it the home of the Tuskegee Repertory Theatre.   Ms. Robinson retired from Auburn University in 1995 to devote full time to TRT.
